Dr. Kat Brady, LAc. (They/Them) is a licensed acupuncturist who graduated from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM) in 2023 with a dual masters and doctoral degree in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. Kat thrives at treating the mind, body, and spirit of each patient they see. They believe strongly that a compassion-driven approach to clinical care is sometimes the most important medicine that a patient needs to feel seen and safe in addressing their health concerns. Kat practices a mixed style of acupuncture drawing upon Applied Channel Theory, TCM, and Japanese meridian therapy styles; adjusting their approach to fit each patient's needs. In addition they incorporate herbal therapy, Japanese sotai alignment exercises, shiatsu massage, cupping, moxibustion, Reiki, and Qigong into their treatments as needed.

Kat is a certified Qigong instructor through the Ling Gui International Healing Qigong school where they study with world-renowned qigong practitioner Master Liu He. Kat began studying Qigong in 2014 and they have practiced every day since. Prior to this Kat studied Kempo, Goju Ryu, and Shotokan styles of karate starting at the age of six with their highest rank being 2nd degree black belt. Kat currently teaches Qigong weekly in southeast Portland and at various events and festivals.

Kat has been a musician most of their life and hosts Reiki Sound Baths with their partner Sarah Rayne regularly. Their approach to sound baths takes on a form of a qigong practice as they play with the energies of the room to facilitate a sound journey experience. In addition, Kat and Sarah perform under the band name Deer Friend, which released their first album in winter of 2023.

Kat is an avid student of the Yi Jing (I Ching) and daoism whose philosophies permeate everything they do. In 2018, Kat became a certified Reiki Master Teacher through the Glowing Heart Reiki school and has attuned others to Reiki. Kat also enjoys gardening, offering reasonably-priced digital and marketing consultations to nonprofits and small businesses, camping, biking, seeing live music, and flow arts.

  • "I first met Kat at OCOM as an intern. I was impressed with their complete and consistent care. Kat graduated and OCOM closed at the Hollywood site, so I was looking for another option to continue my acupuncture. My husband had kept in contact with Kat and when they started their own practice I decided to go back to them for treatment. As I remembered Kat is very complete with their intake practice, asked all the right questions to treat my symptoms. They are very component with their needles. They always check to make sure you are not having any discomfort. Kat is constantly reviewing my needs for adjusting my herb formula. They work with me to decide where and what I need to improve my physical, emotional and general overall well-being. They are a pleasure and effective practitioner."
